The small state of Haryana is situated at the foothills of Aravalli Mountains. The state was founded in the year 1966 when the state of Punjab was parted into Haryana and Punjab. The word Haryana, means “Home of Hari” the land has the glorious past and has seen the rise and fall of many empires that dates back to Vedic age. The well known battle of Mahabharata fought between the Pandavas and Kauravas is believed to be fought here as this land was earlier known as Kurukshetra. It was here that Lord Krishna is said to have imparted the teachings of Bhagwad Gita to Arjun. Haryana is known for its beautiful temples, lush green environment and well designed infrastructure.

Haryana, is the land of ethics and culture and attracts large number of tourists throughout the year. The visitors to Haryana can go for adventure sports and also visit number of pilgrimage places. Haryana Tourism Development Corporation is making all efforts to preserve the heritage sites of the state, and paying adequate attention on the development of infrastructure. There are many tourist complexes for the comfort of the travelers which are available at reasonable prices. Haryana is known for its folk music, handicrafts, pottery, dance and different kinds of embroidery and weaving.

Haryana one of the most popular and prosperous Indian state is at a short distance from New Delhi, the national capital territory of India. There are several tourist spots and resorts in Haryana. Some of the well known spots in the state are as follows: Surajkund Tourist Resort is a well known resort which comprises of Sunbird Resort, Hotel Rajhans, and Hermitage Huts Resort, the resort stretches amidst suburban peace and tranquillity. The resort has beautiful surrounding which leaves its visitors awestruck.
