Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous region with the nickname of the Switzerland of Asia. The Tien Shan mountains cover over 90% of the whole country of Kyrgyzstan. The city of Bishkek is the capital and largest city in Kyrgyzstan, with more than nine hundred thousand people. The capital has a diverse population and its streets are filled with colorful street cafes and bazaars stocked with fruits and veggies and products imported from Pakistan and China.

Unique Sporting Events - Ulak Tartysh, a cross between polo and rugby where teams of riders on horses fight for the possession of the headless body of a goat, which they then try to carry across the opposing team’s line. Many of these games played in Kyrgyzstan are performed on horseback. A lover’s game, Kys Kuumai is a game where a boy chases a woman to get a kiss from her as she rides away; if he is unsuccessful, the woman may then turn to chase him and try to hit him with her horse whip. A Chabysh is another popular game involving a long distance horse race.

5. Horseback Riding – Since petrol is so expensive in Kyrgyzstan, horseback riding is a major mode of travel. This can be an exciting experience for people who love to ride horses, since they can travel to places in Kyrgyzstan that motor vehicles cannot.
